Karen worked in the FE College sector for 8 years at Stevenson College Edinburgh (now Edinburgh College), initially working with the Student Association ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøing the mechanisms to enhance student engagement and ensure the Learner Voice was heard. She then became UCAS Coordinator for the college, supporting college staff and students and ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøing best practise, ultimately leading to increased success in college applicants applying to University. This led to a role on the SFC project; ELRAH, which sought ways to ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍø, enhance and support articulation in the college sector for students wanting to use their HNC/D qualifications to gain advanced entry to University. A move to ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍø University in 2013 was an exciting opportunity to be involved in the ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøment of the new Widening Participation and Outreach Team, supporting and ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøing activity in a university with it’s roots based in providing access to HE for students who may not normally have considered University, for a variety of reasons. Karen is the College Partnership Manager and works with the FE sector to ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍø routes into ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍø, as well as coordinating transition support for widening participation students.
