My background has broadly been in the Third Sector; leading, managing and ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøing charities and social enterprises across Scotland. In recent years, I have ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøed my own, successful, Management Consultancy business, providing short-term contract support across the social innovation sector with strategy, planning, ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøment, and review.
I returned to Academia, studying whilst working, completing the MSc Gastronomy at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍø and graduating with a Distinction in 2016. I ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøed my final dissertation project into a PhD (part-time, at Edinburgh Napier University) where I researched the history and ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøment of television cooking programmes in Britain, from 1936-1976. I graduated in 2024.
While conducting my PhD, I taught on several courses at Edinburgh Napier University, provided guest lectures at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍø, worked on short-term research projects at ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍø, Edinburgh Napier University and the University of Hertfordshire, juggled my Consultancy and published several books, articles, book chapters and other publications.

My research has primarily focused on uncovering untold or hidden histories in television and media, through archival research. My focus has been on:
- Social innovation and history
- The impact of technological changes
- Re-examination of gendered and LGBTQ+ histories
- Notions of class; ºÚ¹Ï³ÔÁϱ¬ÁϹÙÍøing audience(s)
- Celebrity
Additionally, I have researched: aspects of Disability in academia; the impact(s) of Health and Social Care; Food Security and Systems; and the challenges of Third Sector funding.

I am currently teaching as part of the Hospitality, Tourism and Events course, and other Business Management courses within the Business school. This enables me to harness my background in food, communication, social innovation and management. I have previously taught: Television Studies; Sociological Theory; Contemporary British History; and Journalism.
